PRE-WALK INFO: (If supplied) Walk leader's description of start point/general information about route.
Next Sunday's walk is from the post which marks the start of the Cleveland Way. We had initally planned to start by walking along the Cleveland Way to Rievaulx, but for various reasons have now decided to reverse the route and we shall be walking from Rievaulx to Helmsley in the afternoon. We shall first head for Ashdale and the Tabular Hills Walk via Carlton Road, where there is alternative parking.

Parking Options

1. The long stay car park adjacent to the Cleveland Way post is a 'pay and display' car park with toilets, convenient for the town centre. It costs 5.80 for an all day ticket.
Directions;  On arriving at Helmsley from Scarborough on the A170, go straight on at the market square (following signs for Stokesley) then turn right and the long stay car park is clearly marked on the left.

2. Park free of charge in Carlton Road.
Directions; On approaching Helmsley from Scarborough on the A170 turn right in to Carlton Road opposite the BATA filling station. Carlton Lane is on the Left. There should be ample free parking in this vicinity. Once parked wait on the corner of Carlton Road and Carlton Lane to join the walk.

I shall park in the long stay car park and set off at 10am. It will take about 10 minutes to walk to Carlton Road where we can all meet and proceed together.

I hope this makes sense! Please feel free to call my mobile phone 07801 843890 with any queries.

Best wishes
